Derrick Henry: College Football Highlights

Early Life and High School Career

Derrick Henry was born in Yulee, Florida, and attended Yulee High School, where he played football and was a standout running back.

He rushed for 1,264 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior and 1,818 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior.

College Career at Alabama

Henry committed to the University of Alabama to play college football and joined the Crimson Tide in 2013.

He made an immediate impact, rushing for 990 yards and 12 touchdowns in his freshman season.

Henry had a breakout season in 2015, rushing for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns, and won the Heisman Trophy, becoming the second Alabama player to win the award.

2015 Heisman Trophy Season

During his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2015, Henry led Alabama to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where they lost to Clemson.

He rushed for over 200 yards in seven games that season, including a career-high 271 yards against Mississippi State.

Henry also set a single-game FBS rushing record with 460 all-purpose yards against the Missouri Tigers.
